Agriculture and Energy Network Update for Friday, November 21, 2025
Operational Performance
The BNSF network remains in solid condition as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday week and peak intermodal shipping season with positive momentum. Overall car velocity increased from the prior week and saw a 6% increase compared to October. Average terminal dwell was lower than the previous week, reaching the lowest level year-to-date and reflecting a 4% reduction from last month. Our local service compliance measure remains steady at 92%.

Agriculture and Energy Thanksgiving Operating Plan
Agricultural trains will run as usual, and Grain Operations will maintain full coverage during this time. While carload train service will continue uninterrupted over the holiday, BNSF intends to limit yard, local, and road-switch assignments at terminals in line with customer activity and demand. Please consult Demurrage Tariff 6004-C for details on free time and charges applicable for Thanksgiving. Note that connecting carriers with reduced operations due to the holiday might result in delays for interline traffic.

Service Expectations for the Week Ahead
Heavy rains and storms continue to impact multiple states along the Southern Transcon, including Southern California, Arizona, much of Texas, and parts of the Central Plains. These conditions are expected to bring elevated flash-flooding risks over the next 24-48 hours. BNSF operating teams are monitoring conditions and are prepared to quickly respond. For Thanksgiving week, we expect overall seasonable operating conditions across much of our network.
